Ever heard of Feng shui? Well here’s what it means and how you can apply it to your home and its arrangement.
Feng shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces in order to create balance with the natural world. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment.
There are five important feng shui elements and they are earth, metal, water, wood, and fire. Each element is associated with certain qualities, colors and shapes that can influence the balance and harmony of your home.
The commanding position isn’t one of the fundamental basics in feng shui. Your bed, desk, and stove must be all in command since each of these items represents a significant aspect of your life. Your bed represents you, your stove represents your wealth and resources, and your desk represents your career and path in life.
The idea is to find a location in the room where they can be placed in such a way that you can still see the door while sitting at your desk, lying in bed, or cooking. By so doing, you have a good view of anyone or anything that could be coming in through the door, which helps with security consciousness & awareness.
Living rooms are places to gather with family and friends, so to encourage connection and conversation, face chairs and sofas towards each other. Try to avoid having the backs of chairs facing the door as much as possible.
The kitchen is an important area of the home because it represents how we nourish ourselves so should be well lit, properly arranged with harmful objects, put away carefully. Your refrigerator should be clean and tidy. Creating space where you can store healthy food.
Your bed and bedroom represent you, so this is a really important area to look at in feng shui and a great place to start. So it's important to make sure your bed is in the commanding position.
